Over three days, the storm dropped from five to seven inches of rain in parts of the region – and even some thin blankets of mountain snow.

San Diego County was predicted to get the most rainfall of the season so far from this week’s atmospheric river weather system, and the storm did not disappoint.

Through Friday, between 1.5 and 2.5 inches are expected to fall at the coast, with 3 to 6 inches in the mountains.

For San Diego County, rainfall is expected to range from 0.75 to 1.25 inch near the coast to 2 to 3 inches in the mountains through Friday.

San Diego is expected to get hit by its first major storm of the year this week following the single slowest start to the region's typical "rainy season" in recorded history.

Navy officials did not disclose how the wreckage may be recovered. Last winter, after a Navy MH-60R Sea Hawk crashed into the bay, the helicopter was lifted from 15 feet of water and stabilized on a barge. It was then offloaded onto a pier at Naval Base Coronado. The operation took 10 hours.

A flood watch is in effect until Thursday along the San Diego County coast, including San Diego, Carlsbad, Poway and Chula Vista.

A winter storm is moving out of the San Diego area Friday but brought much-needed rainfall and gusty winds that led to some flooding and downed trees.
