The first major severe storm system of the year rolled through Central Texas Sunday night, bringing heavy rain, large hail and lots of lightning.

After a relatively quiet morning with scattered showers, storm chances will increase this afternoon and tonight across South Texas.

The Pacific Northwest is staring down a rare spring severe thunderstorm threat and Texas is preparing to see up to half a year’s worth of rain by the weekend as March continues its streak of unusually disruptive weather.
