Step into Adare Manor in southern Ireland and you'll feel as if you've entered a fairytale. Built in the 1800s, the former home of the Earl of Dunraven is now a luxury hotel and golf resort.

Set on 840 acres along the River Maigue in Ireland’s County Limerick, the manor took 30 years to complete. That makes its recent 21-month-long renovation sound like a mere blip in time.

But unlike Augusta National, Adare Manor lets anyone willing to pony up $425 to play. Ireland’s most expensive course isn’t a coastline beauty, but rather, a parkland diamond.

Shane Lowry, who used to use a marker to draw a green shamrock on his balls before Srixon saved him the effort and began emblazoning the symbol of Ireland on the golfer’s balls, is certainly stoked.

Adare Manor beat out some tough competition to take the top spot. At number two on the list, there's Newpark Hotel in Co Kilkenny. That is followed by Cliff at Lyons in Co Kildare .
