A Jackson County judge on Friday sentenced 42-year-old Dwayne Barnes to 25 years in prison, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson.

Dwayne A. Barnes faces charges including first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, and resisting arrest.

LODGE – Dwayne R. Barnes, 53, of Lodge passed away at 7:07 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville.

Dwayne L. Barnes is a doctoral student in educational leadership and policy studies at Howard University. He lives in eastern North Carolina.
