Chip and Joanna Gaines continue to face backlash from conservative Christians after featuring a gay couple on their new show.

Back to the Frontier, which premiered on July 10, follows three families, including Hanna and Riggs, as they attempt to live like 19th-century homesteaders. Speaking to LGBTQ+ outlet Queerty, Hanna also called the experience “a great, amazing opportunity to normalize same-sex couples and same-sex families.”

Chip Gaines clapped back at an Evangelical figure who said it was a “sin” to feature a same-sex couple on the show.
