The text of the Big, Beautiful Bill states that the federal government will "propose for each year the following registration fee" of $250 for a covered electric vehicle and $100 for a covered hybrid vehicle.
Wealthy consumers would also be ‘penalized’ for their success. According to the bill, qualified passenger vehicle loan interest would be “reduced by $200 for each $1,000 (or portion thereof) by which the modified adjusted gross income of the taxpayer for the taxable year exceeds $100,000 ($200,000 in the case of a joint return).”
The White House said Democrats have "never been more radical and out of touch with the needs of the American people" after voting against President Donald Trump's legislation.
