Mets designated hitter Jesse Winker is heading back to the IL just a few days after returning from an extended absence.

The Mets have placed Jesse Winker on the 10-day injured list with lower back inflammation and plan to treat him with medication for the next four to seven days. “Not an injection for now,” manager Carlos Mendoza said.

For a Mets team looking to win it all, the last thing the organization wants to deal with is all the injuries they have.  While it’s unfortunate, it’s better for that to happen now instead of after the trade deadline.

In his second game back from the injured list and three at-bats in, the Mets ’ designated hitter, Jesse Winker, was pulled from the game against the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday. Moments later, the team announced he was dealing with “back tightness.”
