A Boston-area man hoping to get an up-close view of the Kilauea eruption at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was injured after falling off a cliff in the dark, a National Park Service spokesperson said.

Miraculously, the man suffered only minor facial injuries. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is a popular tourist destination. It can also be dangerous if precautions are not taken. There are numerous signs throughout trails and overlooks warning tourists not to approach cliff edges or unstable ground that may be hidden by vegetation or lose rocks.
