Because overtaking is rare, the race can be dull. So the sport has ruled that two pit stops are now mandatory in a bid to spice things up.

For this year’s Monaco Grand Prix Formula 1 has altered its regulations to mandate that every driver must make two pit stops. It has raised the notion of teams adopting quirky strategies, such as pitting on the first two laps to then run in clear air, or even running a lengthy stint in the hope of a Safety Car.
