With tornado season approaching, a statewide warning drill is scheduled for March 19 during Severe Weather Awareness Week.
Tornado season in the US, and Ohio specifically, typically begins in spring. Ohio has recorded 1,517 tornadoes since 1950, resulting in 199 fatalities and nearly $3 billion in damages.
Along with testing tornado sirens, the Lucas County EMA will also be testing out its new alert system Wednesday morning.
