CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — The replacements for NASA’s two stuck astronauts launched to the International Space Station on Friday night, paving the way for the pair’s return after nine long months.

The launch will mean NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore are finally closing in on their long-awaited flight back to Earth.

The flight was scrubbed on Wednesday night, and the astronauts will return to the launchpad for their trip to the International Space Station.

Butch Wilmore and Sunni Williams have spent nine months aboard the International Space Station following the failure of Boeing’s Starliner mission. Their rescue rocket has finally been launched.

Crew-10 will launch this evening (March 12) atop a Falcon 9 rocket, if all goes to plan. The astronauts of SpaceX's Crew-10 mission will head to the International Space Station (ISS) today (March 12), if all goes according to plan.

NASA will livestream the launch Friday night of Crew-10, which will in part replace the Starliner astronauts at the International Space Station.
