President Trump says Coca-Cola will swap out high-fructose corn syrup with cane sugar. Here’s what research says about its health risks compared with sugar.

Trump said in a social media post last week that Coca-Cola had agreed to use real cane sugar in its flagship product in the U.S. instead of high-fructose corn syrup. Coke didn’t immediately confirm the change, but promised new offerings soon.

The president said last week he urged the iconic soft drink brand to use the sweetener in its American version of Coke.
