As Michelle Yeoh reacted to the news that 'Wicked' received 10 Academy Award nominations, she noted that she and the film's cast were disappointed to learn that their director Jon M. Chu did not get nominated for Best Director.

Michelle Yeoh said the Wicked cast is celebrating but also "crying" after the 2025 Oscar nominations were revealed. The actress, who played Madame Morrible in the movie musical, stopped by The View on Thursday,

Playing Madame Morrible in the movie musical required the Oscar winner to sing live on screen for the first time – which she wasn't exactly at ease with.

In just one short week since “Wicked” became available to watch (and singalong with) at home, the digital edition of the smash-hit musical (the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation in global box office history!

She adds of Georgiou: "There's always a little dark side and a little evil in all of us that comes out, and I think with the hair and makeup, the nails... she's always taking liberty with the way she talks, the way she walks, and how she looks at you.

"This is the second time they've passed over Jon Chu. He should've been nominated for 'In the Heights,'" cohost Ana Navarro added.
