SAN JOSE – San Jose Sharks general manager Mike Grier has not had any serious contract negotiations with his large group of pending unrestricted free agents and said it’s unlikely he’ll sign any of those players to extensions before the NHL trade deadline on March 7.

San Jose Sharks list of pending UFAs includes Mikael Granlund, Luke Kunin, Nico Sturm, Cody Ceci, Jan Rutta, Vitek Vanecek and Alexandar Georgiev.

San Jose Sharks GM Mike Grier told reporters he will not close any doors for his veteran pending UFAs for the upcoming NHL Trade Deadline.

The Sharks are expected to once again be sellers in advance of the March 7 trade deadline with the team well out of the playoff picture.

The most significant player in a contract year is Granlund, the Sharks’ No. 1 center right now who leads the team with 44 points in 51 games, plays in all situations and leads all forwards in average time on ice (20:52).

The Nashville Predators enter Thursday 10 points out of playoff position with 36 games remaining as they head to San Jose to face the Sharks.
