Sting is pulling out of his next few public engagements as he recovers from a temporary throat infection, the rock star announced Tuesday. In a post on his Instagram, the Police frontman's team wrote that he would be canceling his scheduled appearance at the Jan.

In a statement published on Instagram on Wednesday, the British rock legend said that “with severe regret” he had canceled an appearance at the Bass Magazine Awards scheduled for Thursday following advice from his doctor.

The postponed shows may include the January 30 FireAid concert at the Intuit Dome Arena in Inglewood, California. That show –– which features big names like Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Rod Stewart and Stevie Wonder –– is a benefit for charities working to provide relief from the devastating wildfires in and around Los Angeles.
