(July 2, 2025) – As the fall campaign season officially kicks off, congresswoman and Democratic nominee for New Jersey governor Mikie Sherrill takes the lead out of the gate and is seen as more trustworthy to handle a number of issues facing the state, according to the latest Rutgers-Eagleton Poll.
The race then turns into a dead heat — 46% for Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherill to 45% for Ciattarelli — after voters are informed of Sherrill’s positions on transgender issues.
President Donald Trump remains a looming presence in the race, with 52% of voters saying he plays a "major factor" in their vote.
