Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd resents the suggestion that Kyrie Irving's increased workload after the Luka Doncic trade caused his ACL tear.

The curse of the Dallas Mavericks has been bizarre to witness. Ever since the bombshell trade of Luka Dončić became official, the team is seemingly coming apart at the seams, with players falling to injury one after the other.

Irving averaged a league-high 39.3 minutes over his last 10 games entering Monday’s loss to the Sacramento Kings.

After Kyrie Irving suffered a season-ending torn ACL earlier this week, many were quick to criticize the Dallas Mavericks for the increased workload they had placed on the 32-year-old guard following the Luka Dončić trade.

The Dallas Mavericks had only eight players available for Wednesday’s blowout 137-107 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. Their other nine players on the roster were unavailable because of injury, most notably Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving,

The Dallas Mavericks suffered another huge blow when Kyrie Irving tore his ACL while playing against the Sacramento Kings. The point guard tried to drive to the rim when he fell hard after going against DeMar DeRozan and Jonas Valančiūnas.

In the 10 full games Irving played in from Feb. 4 to March 1, Irving averaged 39.3 minutes per contest, the most of any player in the NBA.
