Colorado football two-way star Travis Hunter is admitting to taking a nice gift away from his coach. Hunter says he nabbed a pair of shoes that Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James sent to Hunter’s coach Deion Sanders.

While the Sanders kids fight for their lives to secure a top spot in Deion Sanders’ special kids’ rankings, one more Colorado prodigy might give them a run for their money, and it’s none other than Travis Hunter.

The James-Sanders sneaker ties were reaffirmed in February when the NBA veteran wore a pair of Nike LeBron 21s inspired by Sanders’ third signature model, the Air DT Max ’96. According to Sneaker Files, the “Varsity Red” colorway of that hybrid shoe will also be released during summer 2025 under the name Nike LeBron 21 Prime 96.
