In Shuman’s story, the Buick GS 455 Stage 1 edged a ’71 W-30 prototype with a four-speed stick and ’70 sheetmetal, recording a 6.5-second 0-60 run to the Olds’ 6.6.

The first race sees the muscle cars cover the distance in about 14.1 seconds. However, the Buick GS charged off the line during the red light, so the Dodge Charger was awarded the win.
