The landslide was first reported by residents near Farwell Canyon last Wednesday morning. The slide created a dam about 30 metres high, 600 metres wide and a kilometre long.

The landslide is located in the Farwell Canyon area, about 30 kilometres upstream of the Chilcotin’s confluence with the Fraser River and about 90 kilometres southwest of Williams Lake.

A landslide Wednesday at Farwell Canyon located about 22 kilometres south of Williams Lake dammed the Chilcotin River and created a lake about 11 km long behind the slide.
