Maui County officials issued emergency alerts on Sunday, as the Kahikinui wildfire grew to approximately 500 acres by 7 p.m.

An emergency evacuation order has been issued near Kahikinui due to an active brush fire, estimated to be up to 20 acres big, on Sunday morning.

The Kahikinui brush fire has been 80% contained, but evacuation orders and road closures remain in effect as crews continue to work.
