The nature of the Coca-Cola 600 has changed since its inaugural race in 1960. Back then, 600 miles was a test of mechanical endurance. Cars were set up so close to their failure points that DNFs – Did Not Finishes – were common.

Since Dillon's win in 2017, there have been no first-time winners in the Coke 600. In fact, the trend has shifted back towards the more experienced drivers. Nearly every Coke 600 victor after Dillon is now a NASCAR Cup Series champion, with the exception of Denny Hamlin and Christopher Bell, and both are consistent championship contenders.

Prime Video has gotten several other divisions of Amazon involved in its new NASCAR deal that starts this week, including a “Shop the Race” experience that will let fans buy merchandise while watching a race.
