House Republicans are voting on three bills that would override D.C. laws on noncitizen voting rights, limiting police powers, and restricting immigration enforcement cooperation.

House Republicans voted Tuesday to scrap a Washington, DC, law permitting noncitizens to vote in local elections and overturn another local law curtailing law enforcement liability protections.

The House repealed the Washington, D.C., law that allowed non-citizens to vote in local elections in a bipartisan 266-148 vote that saw 56 Democrats join all Republicans. The law first passed in 2022.
