Denis Villeneuve is aiming to shoot the third installment in his hit Dune movie series this summer, we understand.

Dune 3 is now in pre-production with filming set to kick off this summer, according to Deadline. A previous report from the publication suggested that production would start in June, but Deadline now says that mid to late summer is looking more likely.

However, even in IP-heavy Hollywood, Villeneuve doesn’t want to lead the Dune franchise beyond the third (and supposedly) final film installment, solidifying the chronicle of Paul Atreides’ rise (and fall).
