Richland County Sheriff’s Deputy Sarah Merriman, a former K9 officer, was previously injured in the line of duty when a fleeing suspect hit her with his car in August, 2022.

Sheriff Leon Lott said previous incidents at the theater led him to stop sending deputies to help with security.
