U.S. Judge James E. Boasberg said deportees were “plainly deprived” of their right to contest their removals before being flown to a Salvadoran prison in March.

The Trump administration is facing a new legal challenge to its arrangement with El Salvador to send migrants — and potentially US citizens — to a mega-prison infamous for its dangerous and unsanitary conditions.

The ruling doesn’t apply to Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Salvadoran man whose deportation became a focal point of Democratic resistance to Trump's immigration policies.
