The highest starting Penske driver is out of the race before it begins after Scott McLaughlin lost control while heating up his tires for the start.

McLaughlin crashed out of the race on the pace laps as he was warming up his tires. McLaughlin’s car skidded across the frontstretch on the cold track and smashed into the inside wall before Turn 1. His car eventually came to rest in the infield with a broken front wing and suspension.

There is nothing more brutal than crashing behind a pace car. Scott McLaughlin felt that on the biggest stage during the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500.
