Downtown Detroit French-American bistro The Statler abruptly shuttered with owners announcing the space will be redesigned.

The Statler Hotel, itself a local legend, provides the perfect backdrop for The Witches Ball. Built in 1923, the Statler was a pioneer in luxury hospitality, renowned for its opulent atmosphere.

When the Statler reopened for banquets and events two years ago, officials had high hopes that hotel rooms on the upper floors of the historic building would be ready later this year or in early 2026.

The Statler's history stretches back more than a century, initially completed in 1923. Over the years it operated as both a hotel and office building before closing in 2008.
