Composed of certified public safety divers, the GBPD dive team is trained in underwater search and recovery, evidence recovery, body recovery, vehicle extrication and swiftwater rescue operations.

Eight members of the Virginia Beach Fire Department’s Swiftwater Rescue Team, VA-2, are deploying to Texas Sunday evening to assist with ongoing flood response operations.

Authorities noted that at 4:05 a.m., a rescue boat with swiftwater-certified personnel from Kent Fire and PCWRT reached the island and brought the woman to safety.
