MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. (CBS) -- Longtime Chicago Bears matriarch Virginia Halas McCaskey was laid to rest this morning. Mrs. McCaskey died Thursday, Feb. 6, at the age of 102.

Virginia McCaskey always seemed as comfortable with ordinary folks as she was with the most powerful people in the NFL. The Bears matriarch herself was both, and her funeral mass Wednesday morning at St. Emily Catholic Church in Mount Prospect reflected it.

Longtime Bears matriarch, Virginia McCaskey, was laid to rest Wednesday. Her funeral was held at St. Emily Catholic Church in Mount Prospect, followed by a private entombment. Dozens of Bears players and coaches, past and present, paid their respects.
