Guatemala's Fuego volcano shot ash miles into the air on Friday as authorities said they had evacuated more than 700 people from their homes as a precaution, before declaring the eruption over after some 30 hours of intense activity.

Fuego volcano is located 35 kilometers from the capital, Guatemala City. There have been several mass evacuations in recent years because Fuego erupted, including in March of this year. In 2018, 215 people were killed.

Guatemala began evacuating some residents from the slopes the Volcano of Fire Thursday after a new eruption spewed hot gas and ash high into the sky.
