CLEAR CREEK COUNTY, Colo. — Eastbound Interstate 70 was closed just west of Georgetown on Tuesday afternoon because of a crash. The closure goes from Silverthorne, at mile marker 205, to the crash site at mile marker 227, according to the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office.

A crash involving nine vehicles is causing a traffic backup of over 20 miles on Interstate 70 near Georgetown Tuesday afternoon.

Eastbound Interstate 70 is closed outside of Georgetown for a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon, according to the Clear Creek Sheriff’s Office. The interstate is closed at mile marker 227, just west of Georgetown, so that first responders can access the accident, sheriff’s officials said at 12:49 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators of the crash believe that nine cars were involved, one of which was a semi hauling several vehicles.
