Four days after a giant sinkhole took out the right lane of Interstate 80 in Morris County, resulting in massive traffic jams and winding detours, the heavily-traveled route is expected to reopen.

Interstate 80 reopened through North Jersey on Monday morning, four days after a sinkhole swallowed the road and snarled traffic during the busy holiday weekend. Repair crews worked around the clock to fix the damage in Wharton, where a giant chunk of the right shoulder in the eastbound lanes collapsed on Thursday morning.

I-80 eastbound is officially reopened after days of constant work to repair a massive sinkhole. The sinkhole first opened up around 7:45 a.m. Thursday just past Exit 34 in Wharton, swallowing a portion of the shoulder and encroaching on the right lane going eastbound.
