Russia launched a heavy overnight air assault on Ukraine on Tuesday, firing waves of drones and missiles at the capital Kyiv and the Black Sea port of Odesa, where a maternity hospital was struck, according to reports.

Russia launched 315 drones at Ukraine overnight into Tuesday, in what Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said was “one of the largest” attacks on the capital Kyiv, with local officials in the southern port city of Odesa also reporting a maternity ward there had been hit.

At least two people were killed and several others injured in a drone attack on the southern port city of Odesa, according to Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov. In Russia, officials say all airports serving Moscow and St Petersburg were temporarily shut down due to Ukraine’s overnight drone attacks that did not cause any damage.
