In a 5-2 decision, the majority affirmed a Jackson County Circuit Court Judge's decision to nullify a jury's $4 million award to R.M.A., a transgender male student.

Ruling in favor of the Blue Springs School District, Missouri's highest court said the former student failed to prove the district discriminated against him for denying him access to male locker rooms and bathrooms.

The ruling, which upheld an earlier decision to overrule a jury, was based on a lack of evidence, not the constitutionality of bathroom bans.
