Sega has taken a look at the Sonic movies' box office earnings and decided that, yes, it would like to make several hundred million dollars please.

While the industry is having a moment with video game adaptations, Universal is no stranger to adapting them into hit movies. OutRun is slated to follow The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Five Nights at Freddy’s, which grossed $1.4 billion and $290 million, respectively, in global box office.

An adaptation of the 80's Sega arcade racer OutRun is in the works, and it has one of the best action directors working today at the helm. Michael Bay will reportedly direct with current it-girl Sydney Sweeney to star and produce.
