A 19-year-old man was shot in the chest and had a life-threatening wound Thursday night on the Northwest Side, San Antonio police said.

Former SAPD officer James Brennand, accused of shooting 17-year-old Erik Cantu, appeared in a Bexar County court Friday morning to get a trial date.
