SAN DIEGO — Juan Soto is not in the Mets' starting lineup for Wednesday afternoon's series finale against the Padres, one night after fouling a pitch off his left foot and being removed in the fourth inning. Soto was dealing with a contusion on that foot but X-rays were negative, He was labeled as day-to-day.

Mets slugger Juan Soto wasn’t in New York's lineup for a series finale against the San Diego Padres after fouling a ball off the top of his left foot a night earlier.

The Mets will cross their fingers that Soto won’t be out for an extended amount of time after he smashed a foul ball off his left, back foot in the fourth inning of the Mets’ 7-1 loss to the Padres at Petco Park.
