At least 14 people have died in, Spartanburg, and Anderson counties since the storm tore through the region, many crushed by falling trees

Days after Hurricane Helene stormed through South Carolina, nearly a million customers are still without power. As of 11 a.m. Sunday, 904,051 customers in the Palmetto State were still reporting outages, according to poweroutage.us. That’s about a third of 2,818,951 customers in South Carolina that are tracked by the outlet.

With power still out for the majority of the Upstate, schools and colleges are making decisions about cancellations and e-learning.

Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for, Spartanburg, Anderson and surrounding counties, according to the-Spartanburg NWS.

Fallen trees are blamed for at least five of the deaths, including Christine Schmeiske of Anderson, who was trapped in her house under heavy debris
