Supreme Court is hearing Ranveer Allahbadia's petition, seeking the clubbing of multiple cases filed against him over his controversial remarks made on comedian Samay Raina's show 'India's Got Latent'.

SC asked the Centre whether it is planning to take any steps to regulate "obscene" content like the show on YouTube and social media.

The court allowed Allahbadia to approach local police in Maharashtra and Assam for protection if he faces threats during the investigation. If any additional FIR is filed in Jaipur, his arrest will be stayed in that case as well.

Senior advocate Abhinav Chandrachud, representing Allahbadia, argued for protection from coercive action, citing death threats the influencer has been receiving. The bench agreed but stressed that Allahbadia must fully cooperate with ongoing investigations in Maharashtra and Assam.
