After months of working to bring down the criminals responsible for a string of high-profile burglaries of celebrity athletes’ homes, an FBI special agent working with local police discovered a key piece of evidence that would blow the ring apart: A selfie.

The group allegedly broke into the homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, among others.

Seven men have been charged in connection with a spree of burglaries targeting professional athletes across the US. Goods worth more than $2m (£1.58m) were stolen from the homes of NBA and NFL players in a series of break-ins which began in October 2024.

Seven Chilean nationals have been charged in connection with breaking in and stealing property worth more than $2 million from professional athletes’ homes –– including those purportedly belonging to Kansas City Chiefs players Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
