ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Storms passed through Atlanta Wednesday night, downing trees and prompting a flash flood warning in the city. Several hundred customers were without power when the storms knocked down trees throughout southwest Atlanta.
Flooding is causing problems along Interstate 75, where multiple lanes of the interstate are flooded near CW Grant Parkway.
Several parts of North Carolina and Georgia faced severe flash floods on Wednesday, with radars indicating a possible tornado approaching Durham. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued multiple Flash Flood Warnings across central NC and metro Atlanta. Locals said some of them were stranded in cars and roads filled up with water.
Supplies are on their way from Georgia to Texas to help relief and recovery efforts after deadly flooding. Channel 2’s Wendy Corona was in Peachtree City, where volunteers were hard at work packing up food boxes and hygiene kits.
