Disney and Universal have together filed a lawsuit against Midjourney, the company behind one of the most popular AI image generators, over rip offs of characters and art styles from the likes of The Simpsons and Star Wars.

According to Disney and Universal’s lawsuit, Midjourney made $300 million last year. The AI company boasts the world’s largest Discord server at more than 21 million members (Viggle.ai is in second place with around 4.

In the complaint, attorneys for Disney and Universal wrote that “Midjourney is the quintessential copyright free-rider and a bottomless pit of plagiarism.” They accused the company of “helping itself to Plaintiffs’ copyrighted works” and then distributing images that blatantly incorporate famous characters, including Darth Vader and Bart Simpson.
