Founded before California statehood, the First Baptist Church of San Jose moved into distinctive hilltop home in 1970.

The school was founded in 1967 under the name Emmanuel Baptist Christian School by Emmanuel Baptist Church. It was renamed Emmanuel Christian School in the spring of 2006.
