Significant severe weather and life-threatening flash flooding continue to impact much of the mid-South up through the Ohio River Valley.

Another round of torrential rain and flash flooding was expected in parts of the South and Midwest already heavily waterlogged by days of relentless severe storms that in some cases spawned deadly tornadoes.

The rising water levels have prompted rescues and road closures. The storm, which has already wreaked havoc across the South and the Midwest, doesn’t show signs of letting up.

Torrential rains and flash flooding battered parts of the Midwest and South on Friday, killing a boy in Kentucky who was swept away as he walked to catch his school bus. Many communities were left reeling from tornadoes that destroyed entire neighborhoods and killed at least seven people earlier this week.

Day after day of heavy rains have pounded the central U.S., rapidly swelling waterways and prompting a series of flash flood emergencies from Texas to Ohio.
