The Butler Fire is continuing to grow eastward at a steady pace. More evacuation warnings and orders were issued in Siskiyou County as the Butler Fire swelled past 14,000 acres by Saturday morning.
The Forest Fire Service said it began near the Carranza Memorial, a stone monument that honors Emilio Carranza Rodriguez, a Mexican aviator who died in a crash at the site in 1928.
The Ash Fire was most likely ignited by lightning. The park has received over 350 lightning strikes in the last 24 hours.
