George R.R. Martin, the author of the A Song of Ice and Fire series based on HBO's Game of Thrones, responded to recent fan backlash to him connected to a new project. Fans have expressed their frustration in waiting for the next two books in the ASOIAF series.

It's been six years since the last episode of HBO's hit TV show Game of Thrones aired. Since George RR Martin hadn't finished writing the final two books in his A Song of Ice and Fire series, the showrunners had to base the last few seasons on his planned plot points for The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring.
