A flood watch in counties south of Houston goes into effect Thursday morning and lasts through Friday as more than 6 inches of rain could fall.

Weather forecasters are predicting an upper-level disturbance to approach Houston from the west and to cause some thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.

Waves of downpours and thunderstorms continue across South Texas, driving a flooding and severe weather risk through late Friday. Some places could see up to a foot of rainfall, while others may face a low-end tornado risk.
