PORTLAND (WGME) -- Maine State Police says there were dozens of crashes on the Maine Turnpike during Sunday's storm. Police reported 37 crashes, including one that shut down the northbound lanes at mile marker 4. Investigators say speed and/or inadequate tires were factors in most of the crashes.

OGUNQUIT — Maine State Police are investigating a double fatal crash that occurred on Interstate 95 early Thursday morning. The incident happened at approximately 6:05 a.m. at mile marker 14 southbound in Ogunquit.

A crash on the Maine Turnpike Sunday evening caused multiple lanes of traffic to shut down. Around 5:30 p.m., Maine State Police said on Facebook all northbound lanes of traffic near mile marker 4 on the Maine Turnpike in York were shut down due to a multi-vehicle crash.
