Dune 3 is now in pre-production with filming set to kick off this summer, according to Deadline. A previous report from the publication suggested that production would start in June, but Deadline now says that mid to late summer is looking more likely.

Filmmaker Denis Villeneuve is trying to wrap up the shoot of the third instalment of his Dune movie series this summer.The team is currently in pre-production and has been working behind the scenes to prepare for a summer launch.

Dune 3 will start filming this June and not in 2026 as previously reported, according to Deadline.

However, even in IP-heavy Hollywood, Villeneuve doesn’t want to lead the Dune franchise beyond the third (and supposedly) final film installment, solidifying the chronicle of Paul Atreides’ rise (and fall).
